Top A-list actor Tom Cruise has developed a stellar reputation for doing his own stunts in his action films, and he is continuing the tradition for his newest “Mission: Impossible” film. The legendary actor has released a video clip of the stunt and it has fans everywhere buzzing.
You gotta see this! Watch the video:
“This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted,” Cruise said. “We’ve been working on this for years. We’re going to shoot it in Norway and it will be a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a base jump. I’ve wanted to do it since I was a little kid. And it all comes down to one thing — the audience.”
The video clip provides outlines into the extraordinary preparation that went into the scene. That includes undergoing hundreds of parachute jumps from a helicopter as well as thousands of practice motorcycle jumps on dirt tracks build exclusively for him to work on the stunt.
“Don’t be careful,” Cruise said. “Be competent.”
Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie noted, “The only thing that scares me more is what we have planned for ‘Mission 8,’” which will be part two of the movie, which is set to be released in 2024.
The Daily Wire added:
Cruise generated headlines earlier this week when he released a video thanking fans who went to the movies over the summer to see “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The movie grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office and more than $690 million domestically after three months in theaters, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Variety reported back in September.
“Hey everyone, here we are over sunny South Africa,” Cruise said in the new video while sitting on the edge of a helicopter. “And we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ parts one and two.”
“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters, and thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’” he said.
He then introduced Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and is directing “Dead Reckoning,” as he told the actor that he had to wrap it up because they were on a tight filming schedule.
“Listen, we really gotta roll, we gotta get this shot,” McQuarrie noted.
“Oh ya, we’re filming,” Cruise said. “We gotta get this shot. Are you coming?”
“Not on your life,” McQuarrie answered with a smile. “Good luck.”
“We’ll see you down there,” Cruise said as he rolled out of the helicopter backward, but still continued to film.
“Where was I?” Cruise says as he looks at the camera while falling. “Oh, yeah. Thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime. Yeah, very lucky.”
“I’m running out of altitude, so I better get back to work,” Cruise said as he broke away and dove straight for the ocean below. “We gotta get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies.”
