Whoopi Goldberg recently went off on a fiery tirade during ABC's "The View," arguing that President Trump should be behind bars over the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool situation. Rather than blaming the individuals who were actually arrested, Goldberg pointed the finger squarely at the president himself, as originally covered by Trending Views.

The liberal co-host wasted no time rejecting the vandalism explanation altogether. During the segment, she characterized the entire story about vandals as a conspiracy theory cooked up by Trump. She told viewers that the president "is claiming that vandals are to blame" and that he alleged chemicals were illegally dumped into the water while a 300-foot gash was left in the pool's surface.

Goldberg also took aim at the reported arrests, treating them with deep skepticism. She acknowledged that five people had reportedly been taken into custody and that Trump was calling for a ten-year prison sentence to be strictly enforced. But she pushed back hard, insisting there was "no proof" of any vandalism, even though law enforcement had already made those arrests.

Her commentary then took an even more dramatic turn. She suggested that the entire country ought to pursue legal action against Trump for the pool restoration work. "I want somebody to sue because if a contractor did this at your house, this is what you would do," Goldberg stated. She argued that the nation should hold him accountable "for doing this without our permission."

On the other side, President Trump offered a detailed account of what investigators uncovered. In his statement, he said six individuals were arrested and seven more received citations for the destruction they caused to the pool. He described a 350-foot gash created by a sharp blade or razor, explaining that it consisted of multiple slashes spanning a very long stretch and appeared to have been done deliberately, likely under cover of darkness.

Trump also highlighted additional destruction to the pool's foundation. He noted that a portion of the base "was cut and powerfully lifted off the surface leaving very jagged, uneven edges." He confirmed that significant sections of grass surrounding the area are being replaced and that a partial draining of the pool is planned around Independence Day so permanent restoration work can be completed.

Wrapping up his remarks on an optimistic note, the president said the Reflecting Pool already looks "as beautiful as it can be," even before the final round of repairs takes place.

Whether Goldberg's passionate on-air demands will gain any real traction is still an open question. What is clear, however, is that arrests have been made, damage has been officially documented, and restoration efforts are already moving forward.
