Trump-supported candidates find success soon after FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago

Just a day after the FBI raided former President Donald J. Trump’s Florida residence at Mar-a-Lago, many of Trump’s endorsed Republican candidates won statewide and federal races. Leora Levy, the national Republican committeewoman for Connecticut, won the GOP U.S. Senate primary against her Republican opponents Peter Lumaj and Themis Klarides.

While the former President praised Levy, he also attacked her general election opponent, the Democrat Senator Richard Blumenthal. He wrote that “Leora Levy is running to represent the Great State of Connecticut in the United States Senate,” and said that “The current Senator is a mocked and laughed at fool, who said for many years that he was a brave war hero in Vietnam when the facts later revealed that he had never even been to Vietnam.”

“In the Senate, she will work hard to Grow the Economy, Secure the Border, Fight for Energy Independence, Support our Military and our Vets, champion Election Integrity, Protect the Second Amendment, and Fight Violent and Vicious Crime, which is at the highest level in Connecticut history,” added Trump.

Leora Levy, in her appearance on Breitbart News, said the former president’s backing was an “honor.” Trump also slammed Levy’s Republican opponent Themis Klarides, saying “Ms. Klarides is Weak on Crime, Weak on our Military and Vets, and Will Not Be Protecting our under siege Second Amendment.”

Tim Michels, another Trump-backed Republican candidate, won the Republican gubernatorial nomination in Wisconsin against his opponent, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch. Michels, who had served in U.S. Army as a ranger for 12 years, will now face Democrat Gov. Tony Evers this fall, reported Breitbart. The former President had previously endorsed Michels a few months ago, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Trump said, “Tim Michels is the best candidate to deliver meaningful solutions to these problems, and he will produce jobs like no one else can even imagine.”

In his endorsement of Michels, the former president also wrote that “Wisconsin needs a Governor who will Stop Inflation, Uphold the Rule of Law, strengthen our Borders (we had the strongest borders in history just two years ago, now we have the weakest!) and End the well-documented Fraud in our Elections.” After the former president’s endorsement, Michels modified his television ads to add Trump’s endorsement, while promoting the efforts of his family’s construction company Michels Corp. in 2017 to win a bid to build part of the wall on the U.S. border with Mexico. In the ad, Michels also pledges to block any future bills that would effectively allow immigrants and non-U.S. citizens to obtain driver’s licenses or any tuition subsidies.

Besides Levy and Michels, the Associated Press election results report that five other Wisconsin candidates backed by the former president moved to the general election at the federal level, as well as all three Minnesota Trump-backed candidates clinching nominations.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler lost the general election for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District to another candidate endorsed by Trump, Joe Kent. Beutler is one of the Representatives that voted for Trump’s impeachment.
