A Texas elementary teacher is no longer teaching and is not eligible for rehire after she was seen making racist comments on social media, complaining about her sister dating a white man, and other insensitive and “alarming” comments. Some reports said she was fired, others say she resigned, so we’re here to tell you it’s one or the other – but either way she won’t be in the classroom this fall.
She worked for the Mesquite Independent School District who reported that the teacher, who’s black, wasn’t with the school any longer after making those public comments on X, formerly known as Twitter. The Mesquite ISD also stated that the teacher is not eligible for rehire, which means she’s pretty much out of luck getting her job back with them.
The teacher was using a fake name on X, so how did she get caught? Well, that’s where the Internet comes in! Dallas News reported on how it happened:
A Mesquite elementary school teacher has resigned following an investigation by the school district into racially charged statements she made on social media.
Mesquite ISD began investigating the Thompson Elementary School teacher Monday afternoon after someone tagged the campus in a post, which included some of her comments, district spokeswoman Laura Jobe said.
By Tuesday morning, the teacher resigned, Jobe said. In a statement, the district called the teacher’s comments “alarming” and “racist.”
What did the black teacher have to say about her racist comments? Well, she wasn’t available for comment and she deleted her X account that was under the fake name. Oh well, people already took screenshots, because the Internet is forever.
OK, but what did she say that was so bad? Well, Dallas News covered that too:
In the posts, the teacher complained about her sister dating a white man and said she had asked her boyfriend to kill him. In others, she used derogatory terms for white people.
“I enjoy being racist,” she wrote in one post. “I’m never changing.”
See, racism does exist on all sides of humanity, not just white folks!
