Science magazine makes first endorsement in 175 years, picks Joe Biden

A popular science magazine has made a presidential endorsement for the first time in 175 years of existence. It was Scientific American who made Joe Biden their first presidential endorsement ever.

The magazine made the announcement on their website, saying they have never endorsed a presidential candidate yet, but this was the first time because they were “compelled” to do it.

In the same article where they endorse Joe Biden, they also target President Donald Trump with a bit of criticism in his response to the ongoing issue America and other countries are facing now.

The author, whose name is not listed, as the article byline simply states “THE EDITORS,” refers to President Trump as being dishonest and inept in his response, then suggesting that Trump’s response was partially to blame for 190,000 Americans losing their lives to it.

Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate in its 175-year history. This year we are compelled to do so. We do not do this lightly.

Further criticism of the president stated the following:

He has also attacked environmental protections, medical care, and the researchers and public science agencies that help this country prepare for its greatest challenges. That is why we urge you to vote for Joe Biden, who is offering fact-based plans to protect our health, our economy and the environment. These and other proposals he has put forth can set the country back on course for a safer, more prosperous and more equitable future.

After that, the Joe Biden endorsement continued talking about President Trump and the things that the editors disagreed with. Much of the endorsement spoke negatively of President Donald Trump, almost focusing the article more on him and less on the endorsement of Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

The endorsement reads similar to an opinion piece and can be found here.
