In the Republican primary for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, far-right Rep. Lauren Boebert defeated her more moderate challenger, as projected by a report. NBC News labeled her as the “MAGA Lightening Rod” in an article about her victory.
Boebert led state Sen. Don Coram by nearly 30 points, with virtually all of the expected votes counted.
Backed by former President Donald Trump, Boebert has made a number of inflammatory remarks, and she has positioned herself as one of the most far-right members of Congress, winning herself national attention in the process. Boebert and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., heckled President Joe Biden earlier this year, at various points of his State of the Union address.
Boebert has raised roughly $5 million for her campaign during her first term in Congress, while she is also facing a scandal involving mileage reimbursement from her campaign account.
Boebert is also a businesswoman and gun-rights activist. In 2013, along with her husband, she opened a gun-themed and old-timey restaurant in Rifle, Colorado serving traditional breakfast, burgers & steaks.
Coram introduced himself to voters as one who is more focused on legislating than generating buzz among conservatives, but he was outraised and outspent far by Boebert.
Adam Frisch, a former Aspen City Council member, and Alex Walker, a community organizer Soledad Sandoval and engineer, competed in the Democratic primary. Still, this newly drawn district is leaning significantly to the right. “Solidly Republican” is how the Cook Political Report rates the contest.
Boebert was recently making headlines with her comments ravaging liberals. Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert had an explosive chat with Dan Bongino in which she suggested the “clowns are running the circus” and anyone who says a biological man can get pregnant and have a baby is a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” – taking the witty line from President Joe Biden and throwing it into Democrat faces.
Boebert said: “The clowns are running the circus. It’s plain and simple. Now that men can get pregnant we have a baby formula shortage. I would like to go back to the days when men should note get pregnant so we can feed the babies. Leave it to the philosophy major testifying before Congress that men can have babies. Anyone who says men — biological men — can have babies is a lying, dog-faced pony soldier…
“It was baffling to watch this take place… Drawing out what the ideology really is of these leftists.
“Democrats are disconnected from reality. They think men can get pregnant and have babies and women’s sports should include men. They say the border is closed. Their solution to the formula crisis is to give the FDA who is responsible for the crisis a race… We have already given them a billion in bailouts, and another $100 million in bailouts. Now they need another $28 million. I am tired of the Nancy Pelosi con game where bills are titled one way but don’t solve the problem. If the bills we voted on in Congress matched their titles, I would probably vote yes a heck of a lot more.”
