Ted Cruz leads GOP senators in demand for emergency audit

Numerous GOP senators plan to object to the certification of the election results on January 6. This movement is lead by Sen. Ted Cruz, as the group claims that the November 3rd presidential election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud and illegal conduct” per a report on Fox News.

Those who plan to object to the results on January 6 are demanding that Congress conducts a 10-day emergency audit of the election results in states that are being disputed. The lawmakers are citing a case from 1877, between Rutherford Hayes and Samuel Tilden, that documented fraudulent allegations that possibly occurred in several states, very similar to what GOP lawmakers are suggesting now

“In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy,” the lawmakers said in the statement. “Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission — consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices — to consider and resolve the disputed returns.”

The GOP senators are demanding an audit of the election results to eliminate any votes that were cast fraudulently and to ensure the election integrity is solid and the results are legitimate.

President Donald Trump and his campaign have challenged the election results in numerous legal challenges, but have continuously been dismissed because the cases brought forth often lacked solid evidence that would prove without a reasonable doubt that something took place to sway the election in one way or another.

Trump’s team was shaken when former Attorney General Bill Barr said, before his resignation, that “we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”

Ted Cruz has been outspoken in regards to the election results, wanting trust and integrity to be restored so there is no doubt about the results of future elections.

Sen. Ted Cruz will be joined by the following “Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; James Lankford, R-Okla.; Steve Daines, R-Mont.; John Kennedy, R-La.; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Mike Braun, R-Ind.; as well as Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.; Roger Marshall, R-Kansas; Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.”

If the results of the 2020 election are certified on January 6, then Joe Biden will be inaugurated on January 20, 2021.
