Captain ‘Sully’ writes 9 post thread about Trump, says “Vote Him Out”

Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III is famous for landing a plane on the Hudson river, saving lives, and even having a movie made about it. However, after a recent article in The Atlantic made a claim, based on anonymous sources, suggesting that President Donald Trump disparaged the military, Sully is now speaking out about Trump and calling for people to “vote him out.”

Sully shared his opinion on Twitter in a nine post thread. The contents of that thread started in the tweet below and the rest are quoted as follows:

Further quoted, Sully said the following:

2/9 In our travels, my wife Lorrie and I have always made it a point to visit military bases, hospitals and cemeteries, to meet and honor those who serve and have served our nation.

3/9 I have long known that serving a cause greater than oneself is the highest calling, whether in the military or in civilian life. And I have always tried to be a voice of reason and to speak in a measured way.

4/9 But this situation calls for a much more direct approach. It is time to call out egregious behavior for what it is.

5/9 For the first time in American history, a president has repeatedly shown utter and vulgar contempt and disrespect for those who have served and died serving our country.

6/9 While I am not surprised, I am disgusted by the current occupant of the Oval Office. He has repeatedly and consistently shown himself to be completely unfit for and to have no respect for the office he holds.

7/9 He took an oath of office that is similar to the one that each person takes who enters the U.S. Military. But he has completely failed to uphold his oath. Now we know why. He has admitted that he cannot comprehend the concept of service above self.

8/9 He cannot understand selflessness because he is selfish. He cannot conceive of courage because he is a coward. He cannot feel duty because he is disloyal.

9/9 We owe it not only to those who have served and sacrificed for our nation, but to ourselves and to succeeding generations to vote him out.

Sully also linked to the controversial article on The Atlantic, written by Jeffrey Goldberg.

Since the article was released and went viral, President Trump has denied the allegations. Numerous people have also gone on record to dispute the claims made in The Atlantic article by Goldberg and his article based on anonymous sources.

The article alone has caused a massive online argument about it as people chime in from both the left and right. As of now, at the time of this article, it is still unknown who Goldberg’s sources are. He appears to stand by his report.

On the contrary, notable figures like Sarah Huckabee Sanders have spoken out. The former White House press secretary posted a video with the caption “The malicious lies about @realDonaldTrump from anonymous sources in the Atlantic are disgusting. This story is an insult to journalism. I would know, because I was there.

Another notable figure, John Bolton, who is not a big fan of Trump, has PARTIALLY disputed the claim. He suggested that at no time did Trump say those words of “suckers” and “losers” in the presences of Bolton, but does not speak for any time that he was not in the conversation or around Trump.

If the anonymous sources are revealed, then America may get more information and a face to put a name on.

If Goldberg’s sources are not revealed, then that leaves Americans to wonder who they could be, or if they exist.

Numerous videos of Trump interacting with military, or somewhat related to that, have been popping back up online.

This video shows military soldiers cheering when President Donald Trump appears and takes the stage.
