Pat Sajack faced scrutiny after photo with GOP member… but now the ‘end is near’

People on Twitter are fuming at Pat Sajak, the longtime “Wheel of Fortune” host, for posing in a photo with Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Apparently, the picture was captured recently, and after it was re-shared by a Twitter account, it went viral on Twitter, and was described as “exposing right-wing extremism and other threats to democracy,” despite it simply being a photo and nothing else that suggests anything further about Sajak in general.

However, critics are bashing Sajak and calling him names despite having zero evidence to back up their claims or even talking to him in person to see how he feels about certain topics. But that didn’t matter and it got worse.

Referencing Sajak’s “Wheel of Fortune” co-host, Vanna White, one user wrote: “Pictured: Pat Sajak and Vanna Whitesupremacist.” Another user tweeted: “Pat Sajak has always been a far-right lunatic I’m not surprised at all.”  Members of academia and a former political candidate for office, additionally, offered their take on the Sajak photo and whether they believed it to be a revelation or not, said a report on Fox News. “First Chuck Woolery. Now Pat Sajak. Are all game show hosts trash?” Wrote Temple University Professor, Marc Lamont Hill, who also shared his disgust. The original host of “Wheel of Fortune,” Chuck Woolery, has also been met with criticism for his political views, so it seems like people are targeting well-known and popular figures over their choice of politics.

The Director Of Media Relations at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, Diana Gonzalez, wrote that she won’t be watching “Wheel of Fortune” anymore.

“The company you keep is quite unfortunate @patsajak. (Sic) Will be changing the channel when you spin the wheel,” tweeted Gonzalez.

Johnny Akzam, a former U.S. House of Representatives candidate, wrote that “this isn’t news. It’s well known Pat Sajak is a raving conservative. Watch the show, don’t watch the show, but he’s about to retire and y’all are late by over half my life,” wrote Akzam who seemed confused about why the photo was garnering such an intense reaction.

But not everybody was so big on critics of the TV personality for his photo appearance with Greene.

“That people hate Pat Sajak just because of his conservative views is a microcosm of everything wrong with our country right now,” one person noted.

“Cancel Culture is completely out of control. The latest victim…….PAT SAJAK!!” Tweeted another individual, who came to the defense of the 75-year-old. Neither of the two ‘stars’ from the photo, Sajak nor Greene, have commented on the photograph going viral.

Recently, Sajak opened up about a potential departure and retirement, as he has hosted the game show since 1981. “In most television shows by this time, you would have said, ‘That’s probably enough,’ but this show will not die,” told Sajak to Entertainment Tonight. 75-year-old Sajak and the 65-year-old co-host Vanna White have become the faces of the series, in his four-decade tenure. Sajak came on board in 1981, six years after the show began in 1975.

Sajak said when he talked about his next steps in life that “it appears I may go before the show.” Sajak, who also quips with celebs on the show’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune spin-off (his one wish list contestant? Meryl Streep), said: “It’s an honor to have been in people’s living rooms for that long. People were out there welcoming us. We’re happy and proud.”

Sajak acknowledged that “years go by fast” according to a report on People. “We’re getting near the end. It’s been a long [time]. We’re not gonna do this for another 40 years. The end is near,” said Sajak.

His daughter, Maggie, tweeted: “Happy 40th Wheel-iversary to this guy!” Alongside a throwback of her father hosting the series: “On this day in 1981, @patsajak hosted his very first episode of @WheelofFortune… and the rest is history!” as Sajak celebrated his 40-year hosting anniversary in December.

There was only one time when the host stepped away from the series, as he needed to undergo surgery for a blocked intestine, which gave White the chance to host. But for 40 years he has been spinning that wheel and is now ready for his last spin on “Wheel of Fortune.”
