The Star Tribune has reported that Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib is being sued by a conservative activist over an incident that occurred in 2018. The incident happened at an event for Rep. Ilhan Omar where the activist, Laura Loomer, were in what some might call a confrontational incident.

A confrontation at a Minneapolis campaign event for U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar in 2018 has prompted a federal lawsuit by conservative activist and Florida congressional candidate Laura Loomer against U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib.

The Star Tribune states that “Loomer was part of a group that disrupted an Aug. 11, 2018, campaign event at Holy Land deli in Minneapolis. Omar and Tlaib were then both candidates for Congress.

The Star Tribune reported at the time that Loomer’s group shouted questions about the Palestinian group Hamas and genital mutilation.”

The lawsuit claims that Tlaib had “violently grabbed” Loomer’s cellphone while she asked Tlaib questions. Loomer wanted to know if Tlaib was “willing to admit … that Hamas is a terrorist organization.”

The lawsuit was supposedly filed by a non-profit called Freedom Watch who wants to hold Tlaib accountable for her comments. However, the chances of Loomer winning $2 million over someone grabbing her phone does not seem likely.

The physical interaction of Tlaib is likely to be deemed inappropriate and irresponsible, but not likely to be something Loomer wins a $2 million lawsuit for.

Loomer is currently a Congressional candidate in Florida.
