Can’t help but laugh! I never thought I’d be rooting for Americans to lose in the Olympics.
I’m so glad that Anthem-protesting Gwen Berry didn’t win a single medal.
Gwen Berry is the hammer thrower who turned her back on the national anthem at the Olympic trials. She was participating in the women’s hammer throw finals today and came in 11th out of 12 places.
Well, too bad for her because she could only muster throwing the hammer a paltry 71.35 meters as reported on NY Post.
The 32-year-old caused a stir during the medal ceremony at the Olympic trials in June. After winning a bronze medal during the event, Berry faced the stands rather than the American flag, holding up a shirt that read “Activist Athlete.”
Afterward, Berry said she was “pissed” that “The Star-Spangled Banner” played during the celebration.
“If you know your history, you know the full song of the national anthem,” Berry said on Black News Channel. “The third paragraph speaks to slaves in America — our blood being slain … all over the floor.”
Here’s the video of Gwen Berry basically defending her protest of the national anthem. Watch and laugh as you remember she didn’t win any medals in the Olympics! HAR HAR HAR!!
The NY Post further reported that Berry has been pledging to represent the oppressed people, but when I look around, I don’t see anyone oppressed in our country anymore.
She’s a black female Olympic athlete competing at the highest form of competition in her sport. I’m not really sure there’s an ounce of oppression in her life.
Berry also raised a fist during the Pan-American Games, so protesting and being an activist athlete is nothing new to her.
It’s just stupid to the rest of us and we’re getting quite sick of the athletes abusing their platform for their personal protests.
We want to watch sports, not politics, and we don’t care about their activism when they’re throwing it in our faces.
If athletes want to protest, then they can do it in their free time – not when they’re technically at work.
Can you protest when you’re at work? No, probably not.
Protesting and activism during sports events should be BANNED and any athlete who does it should be fined and removed from their sport for at least two months. Take the money and give them time off to think about how annoying their personal protests are to the rest of us.
I just want to watch some sports. I could not care less about a single activist protest in any sport, from any athlete.
Get protests and activism OUT of sports or they’re going to lose a lot of fans.
Another point – if anyone hates America or wants to protest, then stop playing sports and go be a lifetime activist without annoying the rest of us. We don’t need you.
Oh, and watch this video too. It’s like they were defending her right to protest. Yeah, sure, protest on your OWN TIME though. That’s our whole darn point! We don’t want this nonsense in our sports or entertainment.
