Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters faces a flurry of backlash on social media after she suggested that former President Donald Trump be charged with "premeditated murder" because of what happened at the Capitol riots. Waters made these comments during a recent interview with Joy Reid on MSNBC, which can be viewed in the video below:

Waters said that Trump "absolutely should be charged with premeditated murder because of the lives that were lost for this invasion with his insurrection... For the President of the United States to sit and watch the invasion and the insurrection and not say a word because he knew he had absolutely initiated it – and as some of them said, ‘he invited us to come. We’re here at the invitation of the President of the United States.”

The anti-Trump Waters has always been a huge critic of Trump, often saying he should be impeached throughout Trump's four years as president. She blames him for the riot on January 6th at the Capitol and claims that Trump's campaign members might have participated in planning the events, according to a report on Yahoo News:

“And even there’s information that some of the planning came out of individuals working in his campaign,” she claimed. “We have to fight as hard as we can to see to it that there’s some justice.”

Last month Waters voted to impeach Trump for “inciting an insurrection,” arguing that she believed he was capable of starting a “civil war.”

Waters herself was taking criticism for comments she made back in 2018 that suggested people should "harass" people from Trump's administration after he introduced a "zero tolerance" border policy along the Mexico border.

As covered in the Yahoo News report, Waters said:

“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up,” she said to a crowd in California. “And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. We’ve got to get the children connected to their parents.”

Some users on social media might be suggesting that Rep. Maxine Waters is a hypocrite for her comments about Trump when comparing his alleged actions to things she herself once said about him and his campaign.
