Sen. John Cornyn appears to scold former President Trump's "words and actions" as reckless. However, Cornyn then circles back to support Trump by saying that "the constitutional standard for impeachment isn't recklessness."

WATCH Sen. Cornyn's statement:

Cornyn's comments about Trump being reckless may be related to anything Trump said before the incident on January 6 at the Capitol, as Democrats are likely to blame the former president for the riotous behavior that was exhibited by some of his supporters that day.

Trump's impeachment trial could reference that quite a bit and it may come down to what he specifically said leading up to those moments and a deep analysis of his every word.

Democrats hope for a conviction so Trump is forbidden to seek the White House in 2024, while Republicans believe there is likely no chance of a conviction and some may call it a sham or circus act.
